DELRAY BEACH FILM FESTIVAL
March 22-28, 2010

The 5th Annual DELRAY BEACH FILM FESTIVALwww.DBFF.us)
March 22-18, 2010
, takes place in a relaxed, artsy enclave located on the picturesque coast of South Florida where enthusiastic and thoughtful audiences await. This filmmaker-focused fest delivers great programming in a relaxing setting in Delray Beach, a sunny vacation destination.

The Festival offers an impressive line-up of activities for filmmakers and festival-goers alike. Festivities include gala events scheduled throughout the city, cocktail hours each afternoon, nightly parties, distribution panels, and filmmaking workshops on relevant topics such as screenwriting, film financing, and rights. What's more, filmmakers can take complimentary surf lessons by pro surfers, and attend golf outings at some of the area's renowned golf courses.

DBFF alumni include such artists as Roger and Julie Corman, Barry R. Sisson (FAMILIAR STRANGERS), Robert Kenner (FOOD, INC.), Fay Ann Lee (FALLING FOR GRACE), Paul J. Alessi (KNUCKLE DRAGGERS), Xander Rey Soteras (DITCHED), Peter Demas (WAR AGAINST THE WEAK), Michael Lesser (THE ANSWER MAN), Alexander Nevsky (TREASURE RAIDERS), and Maryanne Galvin (INTERROGATE THIS).

DBFF is a truly independent festival - small enough to allow for an intimate environment in which to mix and mingle, yet big enough to attract large local audiences - and one which has held true to its mission of making available original and indie films not ordinarily seen in mainstream theaters.

MORE ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

This year's event will be under the helm of Creative Chairman Barry Bostwick of THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW fame, who declares that "DBFF gives a platform to those of us who have an artistic vision and need to share it." Numerous juried and audience awards will be presented, as well as the Stella Artois Rising Star Award, the Stella Artois Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Perfect Vodka Award for Best Director of the Script to Reel Contest.

The Festival has a short screenplay competition, as well as sidebar programs dedicated to 3D films, music videos, environmental films, and surf and extreme sports films. One of DBFF's most popular events is its filmmaking challenge, which sets six teams of filmmakers from around the country on a quest to film the same original short screenplay during the Festival.

Producer Susan Spinnato declares, "[DBFF] is a 'must do' for filmmakers, film lovers, and South Florida residents alike...there's something for everyone to enjoy." Be there - submit your film or short screenplay today!

Alan Metter

Alan arrived in Hollywood in the fall of 1967. His career began at ad agency Doyle, Dane, Bernbach where he was a copywriter. Soon he began a freelance career, creating advertising for movie studios and record companies. Also at this time he began working with Steve Martin, writing and directing NBC comedy specials, television commercials and later cutting movie trailers. With the rise of MTV, Alan became and in-demand music video producer/director, bringing his wry brand of comedy to such acts as George Harrison, ELO, Glenn Frey and Joe Walsh, Donna Summer, Chicago and Rodney Dangerfield’s “Rappin’ Rodney” single, among many others. This exposure on MTV eventually drew interest from the studios, which led to Alan’s first feature film, “Girls Just Want To Have Fun,” starring Sarah Jessica Parker and Helen Hunt. Now retired in south Florida, Alan has directed ten feature length films, both theatrical and for network television, as well as scores of shorter films.

With All Due Respect: Making “Back To School”

This workshop will use Alan’s 1986 hit comedy which stars Rodney Dangerfield as a platform for discussing a variety of subjects relating to film making, comedy and life in Hollywood. Because of the diverse nature of a film festival audience he would like it to be an informal Q & A, so attendees get the information that is most interesting, or entertaining to them.
